Children in our church
Sunday School
We offer Sunday School for pre-schoolers and school-aged children.
Our Sunday School program is divided into month long themes with traditional Bible passages and parables told through stories, art projects, dramas, games and cooking projects that are geared for each age group. Our goal is for the children to be be able to apply the lessons learned in each story to their own lives. Children attend the opening of the worship service with their family and are then invited to the front for a special children's moment with the Pastor or a lay leader who will release them to Sunday School.
Special classes
Preparation for first communion and confirmation :
The pastor offers a special class to prepare children for their first communion. This happens when there are several children in the congregation who are ready to participate in communion.
A Confirmation Class led by the Pastor and other leaders of the congregation is offered for young adults in the seventh and eight grade.
Children are an integral part of church life at UCC Toms River.
We see our children:
- Serving as acolyte at Sunday services
- Taking part in dramas or pageants for special services such as Christmas or Easter
- Leading the congregation in the call to worship
- Being part of a choir or procession for special services
- Serving as greeter for Sunday service
- Giving out flowers on Mothers' day
UCC Toms River takes seriously our responsibility to provide a safe environment for our children and has a "Safe Church Policy" in place. |
